I thought this was kind of interesting as I was recently to explore the idea of working for a company not as say a contractor but rather as an actual internal employee. This started as the company recognized and liked my work to the point where it seems like they felt I could be a valuable asset to their growth. This is a little strange on a surface level as pitching someone who is self employed to work as a regular employee is not usually a path most think about as usually it is the other way around.
Usually though, the one incentive for someone to do so is if the opportunity is from say the leader in the industry as everyone would love to be a part of something gigantic. For example, a person working as a small business owner consulting people only to then be offered a big role in say a company like Google would make a lot really consider it seriously.
Recruiting highly independent people can often be a turn off too as one could imagine the person would be very vocal and hands on versus just being a subordinate that takes orders. But the truth is, if you really take care of them they can probably be one of the best workers too as they will literally treat it like their business versus say some part time job. You don’t know if you don’t try too I suppose in trying to acquire the right talent.
