The Idea of Not Being Able To Hire Locals

There is a lot of talk recently on how companies that have a large pool of temporary foreign workers are justifying it due to the fact that they simply can’t find someone local to do the job. For example, the job is undesirable or that the pay is too little. However, this gets controversial when companies hire managers as an example with a fairly good wage using the temporary foreign workers program as that is hard to believe where a company can’t find someone local or even internally in the company to promote. Therefore, the accusation is companies are doing this due to the extra perks they may be getting for hiring a temporary foreign worker.

Thinking for myself, if this is a entry level job I can’t see how you don’t have an abundance of say high school grads or university students that would love to work at these jobs. A lot of businesses also offer rewards for people who find others who get hired and stay at the job for a while. Because the assumption is too if you have a good worker who recommends someone then odds are they are likely a person who would also fit the working culture.

To hear something like a Tim Hortons here can’t find people to do basic jobs like being as cashier is not believable in many ways.
