Well, it’s come to an end as the Bay stores in Canada is officially closed. The discount was essentially over 80% on the last day and interestingly enough some stores were just trying to get rid of everything with prices on the fly. For example, the staff was announcing they had brand new mirrors in a box to sell at $20when usually it would be well over say $200. Then on a table there were a bunch of kid sized shirts that weren’t selling even at $1 a piece.
However, one person was looking at them as there must have been like thirty or so. The staff member asked if he wanted to literally buy them all for $6 and he said yes. They commented how it would be great for the kids at school and at that price you can’t go wrong. Of course, all the high-ticket items were pretty much gone with only small stuff remaining. But at the right price everything goes.
Kind of sad to see the place go as it has a deep cultural history in the country. I believe someone has taken over the lease and a company named Canadian Tires actually bought the Hudson Bay brand product rights to my knowledge. So, maybe it will still be around.
