It’s a common sight where when people dine out they ask the child to simply order a meal they like and hopefully after they will actually finish it. An example I saw today though was actually a habit I did to learn about financial literacy as well. Essentially, when the child was provided the menu he looked at all the choices and eyed on one that sounded good to him. But as well, he then mentioned the one he chose was cheaper than the other ones and came with more stuff. Therefore, that convinced him it was a better order.
The more expensive combo has some pricier items, but this is actually a great way to teach kids about finance even though they aren’t paying the bill. It becomes a game of sort after where they want to get something they like at the best value. It creates more financial awareness about the value of money and actually encourages things like saving as well.
I know for myself this often made me want to invest my money versus just spending it on candy as an example. Doesn’t hurt to start young as they say.
