This got me thinking today as a person mentioned how he was going to go to a place he regularly visits to get some work done as he was just primarily using it as a space as he works on his laptop. He could easily do everything at home though and had even invested in making a home office space for it. But still, he decided to go elsewhere. It made me think of how much money we invest at times to enable ourselves to be able to do tasks at home but still end up using money to utilize resources elsewhere.
A down-to-earth example are people who spend thousands of dollars in home gym equipment where it literally is like a personal gym at home. Yet they still pay to go to an actual gym. Probably not the best type of investment if you don’t actually use it. I know usually people want to get away from home and into an actual office because at home people tend to have more distractions such as grabbing a convenient bite to eat frequently whereas an office environment without those luxuries can usually force one to actually finish their work.
At the same time, maybe we shouldn’t be investing too much for say a home office though if you tend to have habits like that.
