Today I had to make a choice in terms of buying a new phone as I can’t wait for my old one to finish repairing. I had an option to either buy a brand new version of the same brand phone which costs about one thousand dollars or I could get an almost free Google Pixel 9 phone from my carrier just by renewing my contract. That would sound like the best option. What was funny though is that I had all these coupons that would drop the Samsung Galaxy S25 ultra to about $1000 which is a crazy deal considering it’s almost $2000 normally. But did I want to stick with the company who’s hardware failed me?
In this case, the discount is so enticing even though realistically the almost free should be the wiser choice for now until I see what happens to my phone in repair. But it was a great example I thought on how regardless on how sour a customer may be about a company, offering really great discounts can pretty much make people go back again.
It’s like you don’t even need to spend thousands on some PR campaign as using that to give discounts can do it all for you where hopefully you actually meet expectations.
