So Expensive You Need To Judge It Based On Material

I was thinking of getting some sound blankets to block some noise during voice recordings but I figured I try and see if there were more portable solutions available. That led me to look at these voice boxes online that seemed to be fundamentally a bunch of foam in a box of sort where you place the mic inside to try and isolate the sound to just your voice. But what caught me off guard was the pricing. There was this one brand that advertises the product as a home vocal booth and it comes to a whopping $2100.

That is crazy and sure enough people started commenting about the crazy price. While this is an over the top example, it’s a demonstration on how if you are ever buying expensive stuff it can be good to try and see the type of material used to make the item in general to see if it actually matches the price tag. For example, many times clothing items could be using standard material except you are paying a huge premium for the name brand.

In this case, I personally didn’t see anything special with the material. The only thing I can think of is because this is labelled a as sound booth, normally the full-sized ones that you actually walk into can probably cost around $5000. So if one sees this for more than half the price less I can imagine one would view it as a great deal in that sense. But either way, the material used and construction alone still doesn’t warrant the price tag. Imagine how many times you shop for products where they are priced high like this but you still buy it because it is cheaper than everything else.
