There was a lot of news recently of a person named Khaby Lame, who is known for creating social media videos, sold his company for $975 million to a Hong Kong company where they essentially have full rights to his brand and likeness to create AI videos of him. So imagine wanting to create advertisements or just content in general where the company doesn’t even have to hire him as they can replicate everything about him and create as much as they want.
That is a lot of money of course. But apparently the company sees big value in this acquisition to earn more. That begs the question too. Would you ever completely sell the rights to your likeness in this way for millions of dollars? This means you could be advertising products you don’t agree with as well as taking away any future opportunities in this regard. You could argue with that amount of money you wouldn’t need anything else.
That’s still scary though as it reminds me of young start ups that get million dollar offers for their companies only for them to grow into billion-dollar companies. It might sound like a lot at the time but it may not be the best deal once everything plays out. People literally selling themselves for AI usage in these ways may become a big thing too in the future for people that just want fast money.
