During Black Friday there were obviously a lot of deals to be found where certain stores that specialize in specific products can often be the best place for particular deals. I have noticed in a lot of electronic stores nowadays they have a junk food aisle of sort at the checkout lines similar to what you would see at the grocery store. These are usually high margin items where people buy them impulsively. So in that regards it can make sense to have them.
It’s just so weird seeing it from stores online. For example, you could be browsing a site that is normally known for selling various electronics and computer gear. Then all of a sudden you see deals for things like a jar of peanut butter just for this Black Friday sale. I mean the price is actually very good. It’s just a little odd like going to a camping store you find it all of sudden selling large screen TV’s just for the day.
Although it does make you think if there are any kinds of negative for that as I can see it attracting more people. As well, the company generating more sales. Would it ever hurt say their brand in doing so? I don’t think manufacturers that sell directly to consumers on its websites could get away with it. But for specialty retailers in general I can’t imagine it being a bad thing overall.
