Saving The Salesmen Time From Pitching

Funny scenario today as I walked into a store simply to buy a wireless mouse for a person and on my way out an employee asks me who I currently use as my cell phone provider. I knew immediately this was a typical scenario of associates trying to make a sale and so I answer in a light hearted way that they weren’t going to beat the deal that I had. They asked what I had and so I mention for about $35 a month I get over 40 gigabytes of data and unlimited minutes with texting. One guy’s eye’s looked like it was going to pop out of his head and the other was shocked,

Then one of them jokingly told me to just leave the store and the other guy joked how he wants to get that plan. I am currently on one of those longtime customer loyalty plans which isn’t available for just everyone. But I often find this approach to be the good balance between just ignoring the person or listening to the entire pitch out of not wanting o be rude.

It kind of shows too how when it comes to these store pitches you have to really know what’s out there to adapt to the vastly different customer base.
