Canada Day 2024 has passed and usually in these types of days one would expect spectacular fireworks show. However, this year plenty of places opted to have drone light shows instead. On paper it should theoretically be more economical and potentially easier to showcase. But as it turned out a lot of places left audience members unimpressed.
One of the issues was that various shows had so little drones in the air which meant creatively they could only do so much and in these cases that meant only being able to view a 2D show where unless you are viewing it at a very specific angle you could end up not seeing much. At the same time, in other cases the drone show ended up costing more than a fireworks show which added even more criticism on how it wasn’t worth it.
There was the argument on how it is new, but it makes you think about investing in new tech to be used in these ways when it is simply too expensive compared to traditional items. Someone has to start using the new tech for it to get better too of course. But it may be better to slowly incorporate it into your plans versus immediately trying to replace what you know works just in case it doesn’t live up to expectations.
