Reusing Shipping Packages

So the other day I had to send out a small lens that was the size of a gold ball where since it was already in a case something like a bubble wrap would do fine. Initially I was thinking of buying one but someone I knew actually just got a shipment recently where the item came in a small bubble wrap envelope and so they offered me that to use. The top portion was cut of course but all I really had to do was slap the label on the front envelope and then use strong tape to seal off the cut area.

Not surprisingly, it worked fine and was a good example of quick recycling per se. If you think about it too, that would have been throwing away about $5 in this case if I went out and bought a new bubble wrap envelope. With that said, it probably isn’t too good of an idea to never throw out your old delivery packages as they can pile up. I usually just keep about three boxes or so since they are easy to store and are perfectly fine to use for shipments.

I usually just tear through bubble wrapped envelopes though to the point where you can’t really re-use them. Which brings up a point, do you intentionally open your packages neatly with as less damage as possible so that you can re-use them? Might actually not be a bad idea to save money in the long run.
