Purolator And Canada Post Strike

I recently ordered an item from Best Buy Online and was surprised as the shipping company they used was Purolator. The company is owned primarily by Canada Post which as you may know is currently on strike. I usually received pretty poor service from them though and this time it was no different. At first they did what appeared to be a common complaint where I was home all day and suddenly they just left a notice saying no one was home. No knock or ring at all. So, I had to go pick up the item.

While at the pick up center the staff was struggling to find the actual item. This was no small product too as it was a microwave. Again, this is the type of service I have come to expect from Purolator. After almost thirty minutes they did find the item. Since they are owned by Canada Post it makes me wonder if this service quality was a sign on why the corporation is losing so much money as it would only make sense to use another company.

You have to wonder why business wise why they wouldn’t try and address operation issues like these while trying to make themselves better than the competition each day per se. For most private business anyways, if you kept running things like this and at a loss you will be out of business pretty fast. Could the answer simply be the lack of a fear of loss per se because of the company ownership structure?
