Surprisingly there seems to be a lot of Christmas candy at various stores that haven’t been cleared yet. As a result, the prices continue to drop until they can get of them. Because of that I was actually debating if I should buy any and there were a lot of varieties. I didn’t have any preference either where to me it’s chocolate full of sugar in these cases meaning they are all unhealthy. So if anything it’s just a treat. So how to decide which one?
I actually tried to see which one gave you the most product for the dollar. For example, $5.54 for 650g of chocolate candy or $1.94 for 245g? Breaking it down, it would look like this:
For 650g at $5.54:
Cost per gram = $5.54 / 650g ≈ $0.00852 per gram
For 245g at $1.94:
Cost per gram = $1.94 / 245g ≈ $0.00792 per gram
So you can see one is better but not by much. As well, technically with the $1.94 option you can get multiple box varieties as well. I often do this when I don’t have specific preferences for food items. It’s just a natural habit in wanting to get the best value. Restaurants are a great example as I don’t dine in them often and so I usually use the same process if I can’t decide what I want. It’s like a vote swinger in regards to the money saving aspect of the day.
