This was interesting as today I encountered a scenario where I saw a music artist try and claim copyright to a music that was eerily similar to one that I have licensed from a company years ago. If you go to the artist’s page she makes no reference to who created the music other than passing it off as her own creation. She doesn’t sell it but insists that anyone can use the music if they give her credit for it even though she doesn’t own it.
That made me think how her strategy could be to try and get her name out there with this music where if she happens to get known enough for it she can later try and erase any reference of it and try and continue her growth with the audience she has built by using someone else’s work. This wouldn’t be the first time I have seen something like this and it makes me wonder do people really think they will get away with it at the end?
The only other thing I can think of is many times people feel when they get big enough people will just forgive them for their past actions. Not a path I would suggest personally.
