I recently ordered an item that had to be flown from overseas and it was kind of odd as I never heard of a particular shipping company that was being used. It seemed like this company would ship the item to here in Canada which then afterwards the package would be provided to Canada post. Upon research apparently the shipping company’s business model is to gather items from multiple companies that require shipment to other countries and once they receive enough items to fill up a giant pallet per se they then ship it out.
That definitely saves the company a lot of money from having to ship packages individually. Many times too a customer wouldn’t even bother to order from another country due to the extremely high shipping costs. That was even one of my hesitations at first too in terms of the extra fees but I noticed it didn’t seem that expensive at all and now I know why.
It makes you wonder if other businesses have opportunities like this to collaborate with other businesses to save money in these ways but have just either never thought of it or are apprehensive about working with others. In this case too its technically businesses that expand across different industries who happen to need the same type of solution. Funny how when we are younger we tend to do stuff like this with friends to try and save money but in adulthood I guess we became less trusting huh?
