Today I was kind of shocked as I received a delivery which was intended and like in many cases the delivery driver needs to verify you are the actual person. This one was a little weird though as the person asked for my ID and so I showed it as it verifies, I am the person at that address. However, the person brought out his phone where at first I thought he was just cross referencing the details to verify. It turned out he actually took a picture of it and you can see all the details.
The way I found out was that after the item is delivered you get a confirmation e-mail and usually, they attach the images of the products they leave as proof of delivery. He took pictures of me taking it which was fine, but in one image is was my driver’s license picture. Noe from what I gather it’s usually normal in a lot of places to do this for things like alcohol, but in this case it was just some socks. I immediately contacted the company of course as it is a little dangerous if they are taking pictures of people’s ID’s and storing them. So I’ll have to wait for a response as even on their site they say they never ask for identifiable information like these for delivery.
Now I have to wonder if my information was compromised or if it was simply a worker just trying to cover himself and not even thinking of the privacy issues.
