So recently I was planning out on how to proceed legally against the local cell phone repair company and Samsung for my phone repair case and of course the initial thought for many is to just take them to court with my strong proof. While that is an option, I was thinking as there are other options other than just suing people if your initial efforts fail to get the businesses to do the wrong thing and to just fix the problem. In this case, there is an option called Consumer Protection BC where they will literally investigate if companies are breaking laws and rules in order to protect the consumer as companies could be forced to compensate the victim and endure a fine depending on how serious it is.
If it works out, it sounds like it would accomplish a lot of what I would be looking for in this ordeal. Even better if there is official records of it to help prevent this from happening to others. It’s a great example too on how there are often a lot of options like these to deal with bad business practices and won’t require you to pay an arm and a leg or invest so much time to handle the situation.
So, I started the process to see what happens as technically my other options are still opened as well.
