As you may know a lot of companies require information sources in order to train its AI programs which could range from published books to simply information on various websites. This has already generated lawsuits where copyright holders are claiming AI companies are illegally using their work. So this was interesting to me as even platforms such as YouTube are specifically providing people the option to opt in and allow third party people to train its AI programs with your content.
I have to wonder, why would anyone at this point openly allow any company to just freely use their work in these without some kind of compensation as an example? What benefit would there be for the owner as clearly it’s a product or service a company needs and on the flip side they have no issues with charging you money in the future to use its services. So, at minimum wouldn’t you just expect a fair business trade of sort?
The only thing I can I can imagine is one could get the satisfaction of being a part of something revolutionary in the future per se. But in this case it feels like literally just giving free labor to a commercial entity of sort.
