So today is mother’s day and a funny thing happened where my mom was telling me that she tried to clean this electric can opener that is well over a decade old and it just happened that the top rim fell off. Therefore, she said that a good mother’s day gift would be to get her a new one. Interestingly enough I was able to just snap the part back in and it worked again. However, I still ended up buying a more modern day one since the other one looked extremely worn out and figured she wanted it anyways.
Usually I would say if it still works then keep it. In this case the item just seemed so worn out that I wouldn’t be surprised if it could start accumulating things like bacteria easier. Therefore, I guess that was more of a reason to replace a product where spending a few dollars can be better in the long run. Would be like sitting in a wobbling worn out chair that hurts your back. Sure you can still sit on it, but the money aspect isn’t worth sacrificing your well being.
And besides, my mom asked for it. Guess I had to do it anyways. 🙂
