Back during all the COVID times things like graphics cards were set at a ridiculous price as virtually everything computer wise was in high demand with a lot of people working from home. So with the recent release of the new NVIDIA 50 series graphics cards they were expected to be expensive. But in just a few days multiple retailers have increased the price by hundreds of dollars while some are trying to force bundles knowing it will be in high demand. To think this one card can cost almost $2700 US. You can pretty much buy a whole computer with that price and more.
In this case too, it seems like the price increase is simply due to businesses wanting to maximize profits. It seems like it’s not just the retailers doing this but rather certain manufacturers that have the rights to produce the cards are doing so. It makes you wonder, should you do this to consumers as a business? Obviously a business needs to make money, but I would think most consumers would view this as predatory per se.
For retailers it seems like it is the smaller stores that are doing this versus the large retail chains as they are simply going by the MSRP. Another example on why competition is needed in various sectors huh?
