Not Wanting Your Business Associated With Anything Controversial

This was interesting as today there was a lot of stories of an ostrich farm here in BC where hundreds of ostriches are ordered legally to be killed regardless of the owner and public’s plea to save them. For example, apparently the health officials won’t even allow the animals to be tested by a third party to verify any claims they are infected and need to be killed. One interesting thing was how a truck company called Clearway actually had their vehicles rented for this operation. They were unaware of it only to have the public inform them of this.

While the trucks were already close to the farm, the company demanded that the organization give them back their trucks as they expressed how they did not want to be part of this. They were willing to spend a lot of money to do so too if necessary. In the end, they got their trucks back. It’s kind of interesting to see companies not wanting their brands associated with these types of government operations as there still is that thought on how one should put things like politics aside and just serve the customers.

I suppose since it involves slaughtering hundreds of animals it kind of raises the stake if it turns out the officials were wrong and this company was a part of it. I have never been in that situation before and can imagine if you were an essential service like a telecom provider you can’t exactly say no to them I would imagine.
