This got me thinking today as I was talking to a person who actually ran a side business offering videography services it seems and because I knew a lot about tech in general he was asking me for some aid in choosing the right add-ons for his work. Always glad to help of course, but I was actually shocked at how little he actually knew technically such as with the basic understanding of disk storage one would use for their work. It was almost like someone who made and sold pizzas but had no real clue how certain foods that he uses as toppings are grown or where they come from.
Yet despite that, he was able to create a small business with paying customers who seem happy enough that he still gets businesses to make it worthwhile. That was such a great example I thought where you don’t necessarily need fancy degrees or an extreme level of knowledge to create a profitable business. As long as you can do the job and the customer gets the results they are looking for you can be good to go.
Just starting is the worst enemy for a lot of people where they try to be perfect and the desire to know everything. You are always learning and sometimes you just need to get it started or you’ll never get around to doing it. While you are still planning, people like this are actually doing.
