There was a lot of news today on how the Canada Revenue Agency and it’s call centers are apparently giving people inaccurate information where they submit their taxes based on that advice only to then find out their filings are all wrong. According to a report by the auditor general, it is said that agents having been giving the wrong information about 83 percent of the time. That number is frightening.
In a normal business you would probably have more protection if you were paying for the services. Even though this is an official government channel, I suppose there is no getting around in regards to you having to double check the information you are given as ultimately you will be blamed for taking action based on the information you are given. It’s almost like how a lot of companies write disclaimers everywhere that you should consult with a lawyer for example.
It’s almost like not be able to trust the teacher at school to give you the right answers huh? I suppose that is good for tax filing companies.
