Monthly Subscription Services Getting Out of Hand

I was actually shocked about this offer I received where it seemed like it was a company looking to promote a lawn-mowing robot of some sort where initially it sounds interesting. However, part of the service requires people to apparently sign up for a monthly service where people will need to pay about $60 per month to use the product. Are you kidding? $60 a month to have a small robot of sort to mow the lawn?

I think most people don’t even mow their lawns that frequently. Especially say during the cold seasons like it is here now. To me, this is an example of monthly subscription services going overboard as it is along the lines of printer companies trying to charge people a monthly fee to replace the ink. Otherwise, the printer will not operate. It is already like this for a lot of software companies as I am sure it is more profitable for them. But even I tend to try and avoid monthly fees like these nowadays.

I can see this being okay for large commercial properties where you could save money from having to hire expensive contractors. But for the average individual it’s a crazy proposition I think financially speaking.
