Literally Losing My Voice But Gaining Insight

The other day I appeared to have encountered more than I bargained for as I had to take on more responsibilities than usual and as a result I had to talk a lot(One drawback to trying to do a lot in life). As it turned out, I was talking so much that I was literally losing my voice. I did bring this up with the people around me and for the most part it wasn’t taken seriously as you would figure one losing their voice isn’t exactly say a medical emergency for example.

Eventually it did get to the point where I pretty much couldn’t even say a word. For the most part, a lot of the people around me though still went about the day and got information out me during times such as if there was a question or issue where I was the only knowledgeable person available. Business as usual I guess you can say. But there was this one lady who kept asking me if I was okay which I indicated I wasn’t. Knowing that and hearing for herself how bad my voice was getting, she took initiative to essentially try and do all of my work as well as hers.

When I noticed this I was surprised and literally couldn’t say a word(No pun intended). She then mentioned that she felt really bad for my voice and wanted me to take care of it. It kind of taught me so much about the specific people I was around for this event. Example, to me it kind of showed me that many people for the most part viewed me as a number whereas this lady treated me as a person. As a result, it’s those types of people I would want to help or work with whenever I can in a business environment.

I am actually still recovering from this as we speak. But it’s interesting how scenarios like these can give you so much extra insight in regards to the people or businesses you surround yourself with.
