While initially I was thinking this story I read of a content creator named Johnny Somali who has been sentence to jail in South Korea for various antics was more say entertainment news, it did make me think how many times there are some things you just shouldn’t do for money. I this case, apparently the person created a lot of rage bait type of videos as the intent is to get negative reactions for clout. That in turn should mean viewership and generating income from it. He apparently was doing it for awhile successfully too until he tried it in South Korea where he reportedly did things such as twerking are a memorial known as a “Statue of Peace”.
While he got six months in prison, people were actually demanding for more. It’s something that people need to see in many ways as while the Internet creates a lot of opportunities for people to start some kind of venture like content creation it can seem very tempting to do crazy stuff like this for money. Let’s get real too, how many kids would really think about the future versus the present and what they can get now if it works out?
I think before kids would often get lectured by say actual criminals to avoid things like crime and drugs. It makes me wonder if people like this will be used in a similar manner now for the digital age.
