I was thinking with all the news recently of the WNBA allegedly turning a blind eye to its top performers there were accusations that the reason for this is that league executives have a vision in regards to the type of people they wish to be say the poster child of the league. Essentially, accusations of favoritism and prejudice towards certain type of players. It makes you think, at what point do you simply pivot to what is actually working versus sticking to your vision?
A restaurant would be a great example. For example, if you originally intended to sell burgers but everyone is ordering hot dogs like crazy where you can sustain and grow a business that way would you immediately pivot to just selling hot dogs? Or would you be insistent that you always wanted to open up a burger restaurant and will simply use the hot dog revenue to try and fulfill that dream?
It’s not surprising on hoe many people are willing to bankrupt themselves just to try and follow an original vision. I would say in these cases it’s about generating revenue and giving people what they want and so it’s a good idea to trek towards the path people are screaming at you to do. You can always try other stuff once you build an empire.
