How Much Time You Lose By Not Closing The Deal

It’s actually almost the end of the month already when you think about it which is crazy. There were actually a lot of opportunities that came up as well where for some stuff I am still in discussion on whether or not I would like to pursue it. The usual topics come up such as pay and requirements of course. But what got me thinking is how some companies could have immediately benefited from my work if the deal was closed early in the year as they lost all these potential opportunities as a result. One day became a week which now is almost a month.

While everyone should take their time to make sure the deal is right for them, this makes you think if you should at times just try to close the deal because you could actually be losing more money. Imagine if this was a business where you literally have the perfect employee but you refuse to pay them an extra one dollar per hour they are asking for as you spend a whole month going back and forth. If they were that great where you knew they would be perfect they could have probably made you back that amount in a week or less.

I guess many times ego and powerplay get in the way of focusing on the data and numbers. As well, if the person gets what they feel they need to be happy and it’s that small of a difference it’s probably a good investment to increase the odds of retaining talent. Otherwise, they will remember it later down the road when a competitor tries to snatch them from you.
