Highlighting Disabilities As An Advantage

I have noticed in recent times there are a lot of organizations that seem to be actively seeking out job candidates who have some sort of disability to try and be inclusive it seems in regards to having a variety of employees regardless of say their life circumstances as long as they can do the job. Then there was another similar topic except it dealt with entrepreneurs that try their best even with their disabilities such as being unable to walk or having dwarfism as an example.

In a lot of those it seemed like the entrepreneurs actually highlighted the fact that they have to overcome these types of physical challenges each day which in turn actually gets them a lot more attention versus someone who is just like everyone else per se. This could mean an increase in sales if one is an author or getting more media attention which translates to more potential customers.

It’s kind of interesting to think about as you would usually hear people try and hide any kind of disabilities where it would usually work against someone competing for a job. For example, It’s highly likely if someone can’t literally walk a lot of businesses would rather hire a person who could as they wouldn’t have to worry about accommodations. They wouldn’t directly say that of course. But either way it’s interesting to see people who use it to their advantage while still having the confidence to keep growing despite the setbacks in life.
