If there is one thing I haven’t invested virtually any money in over the years are high end fashion items that cost an arm and a leg. To me they just seem outrageously expensive based on a practical usage point of view where I have to wonder how spending say $1000 on a bag is worth it. But recently I was invited to an event and it was suggested that I try and dress up say very fashionable just like what you would see in glamorous movie screenings. It was only as suggestion of course due to the theme of the party and this was one example of the drawbacks of simply getting stuff that works.
It is just for fun, but it is an event where I suppose people could meet others even for professional mingling. If you aren’t say dressed for the event theme then it can make some people feel uneasy or you could be seen as not wanting to have any fun. It’s almost no different than going to a business event where the dress code requires things like a suit and a tie. I’m sure you don’t nee that for your everyday casual life. But not at least having that clothing option probably limits the type of events and functions you can reasonably participate in without it getting strange.
So sometimes I suppose you do need to invest in some more fashionable attire as it can be often a good thing to attend various events like these to meet new people.
