There was this boxing event that happened today where apparently the main event was supposed to be between boxers Amanda Serrano vs. Nina Meinke. Like most boxing events there were a few fights beforehand with many of them being a selling point for the event too. It seemed like due to a medical issue the main event fight had to be cancelled and that was definitely shocking for the audience. However, it was made clear that everyone would get a full refund for the event.
That’s what got me thinking as everyone still got to watch everything else where one could argue people would get a partial refund. But I suppose it’s just easier in everyway as one could argue there were people that bought the ticket just to see the main event. Imagine that approach with a restaurant where people have been eating appetizers and all with satisfaction but the main dish in the course was a letdown. Because of that, the business decides to give the customers a full refund regardless.
Like there, I would usually see the restaurants simply not charge for the main dish. I suppose for smaller businesses they would have less flexibility to make those kinds of decisions. Then gain, can you afford the bad PR in stances where it is clearly the company that didn’t deliver?
