Giving Friends or Family Members Jobs In Your Business

I was looking at a business the other day where you would think most people would need to be qualified to do consulting work as having expertise in a field is what people pay money for so that they hopefully can make the best decision possible. However, in this case it seemed that a lot of consultants in the company were literally family members of the owner. I guess it’s one of those “it’s easy enough” type of work mentality and so they figured they put them in there to try it out.

I would think that is very risky as this isn’t like simply putting someone to do basic labor which requires mostly just basic skills and work ethic. While granted it seemed like a lot of the customers had no clue similar to just asking someone working at a retail store and assuming they have in depth knowledge of a product, again is that wise?

I suppose this is nepotism per se as well and it is very common. But for these positions I am surprised people actually do that just to give people they know a job per se.
