The year is almost over and a lot of companies are saving their new announcements and upgrades in the new years to start off with a bang. However, it got me thinking as some companies are deciding to give say free discounts and upgrades in their apps for the Christmas time as it is the season to be giving as they say. With that, it seems like a lot of people actually take that gesture with more appreciation as it sort of shows that the company is part of a community of sort.
These aren’t super expensive things either as some looked like simple upgrades that they were going to do anyways but decided to release it this year versus the new years. Or other small things such as $5 off coupons. If they did this during just a regular day I can see how it wouldn’t be as impactful in terms of it looking like the company is being generous. Kind of like saying, if you usually treat someone out to dinner on a regular day a lot would appreciate the kind gesture. However, you could go to the same restaurant and order the same stuff except the say is their birthday and suddenly the appreciation jumps up.
I think it’s kind of the same thing when companies provide gifts or upgrades during the holidays as well. It’s something that can probably be adjusted easily too and may not be a bad idea for a business to maximize its reputation with people.
