I thought this was interesting as it is now official in Canada where from December 14, 2024 to February 15, 2025 there will be tax exemptions for various products such as toys. So you would think one would hold off potentially to make purchases, but it was interesting to see businesses that were offering people the option to get reimbursed for their purchase if they buy it today.
This was listed at a Toys R Us store as they have signs everywhere where if you bring in your receipt after December 14, 2024 they will issue you a refund of the tax difference. I think they are literally just eating up the cost this way similar to how many businesses have a no tax day but they do end up paying the taxes themselves. I can see how this would be beneficial too as a lot of people will end up shopping their gifts before that date. With Black Friday around too mist people will be making their big purchases then.
So again, smart idea for the business I think and a benefit to you as a consumer if they have something that you are actually looking for.
