Free Food or Prizes

large business and finance

I was having a conversation recently at an event about the turnout rate. This one had free food which attracted a lot of people it seemed and in a different day it had door prizes with the turnout not being as good. Probably more coincidental than anything, but it kind of makes you wonder.

From my experience, the sign of free food at an event usually attracts more people. In some ways I’d say it makes mingling at events a little more casual. Then again, it can get messy as well. Of course, if it was like a free million dollar prize I’m sure everyone will be flocking too.

    Hey Alan,

Hah, not that I’m surprised, but I found your blog exactly how you told me I would! 😉

It’s funny how you mentioned that you think the food had a lot to do with the turn out. Personally, I don’t think the food attracts people to events like that, but it makes them stay longer! The free drink coupon allows people to relax after a long day at work and the free food provides a comforting, non-aggressive way to mingle with others.

Thanks for dropping by Rory. Maybe you should start an event to specifically test this out. Would be even more interesting if the turnout was like night and day.
