Today I was helping a family member setup a computer as I was able to get him a system at a very good price where it was a big a loss leader from the company that was selling it. It was great as it was even under his anticipated budget. Thing was, he wrote me a cheque for the exact amount that he originally budgeted it for as he said he wanted me to keep it since I spent so much time on it.
I always hate it when that happens as I usually do things like this to help others save money and this kind of cuts the whole savings aspect from their bottom line. Obviously he insisted in me keeping it with reasons such as he would have had to pay someone way more anyways to do everything. I usually get even by just taking the extra money and then spending it on another item that they need and saying it is a gift. 🙂
