It’s almost the end of the year already and I was actually still thinking of buying a new camera. The thing is, there are still announcements to be made and Black Friday is coming up. Usually if I don’t buy new equipment within a month then I don’t for awhile and that would mean by the new year I won’t have any new resources to work with in the new year. So, it’s one of those things where you wonder if you should just plunge and get the equipment you feel will help you do business better. I can still use what I have, but it means I will be expecting the same results too and that in itself is a gamble where I could be growing faster.
This is one of those times where the habit of being frugal for your personal life creeps in when you are making business decisions that should focus more return of investment. Example, if that $2000 item can bring in $10,000 then it should be an instant purchase. But nothing is guaranteed of course. That’s why usually in a lot of cases I try and see if I can use my purchases for both work and personal. For example, if I am debating about a camera here one factor is if I can use it to record say higher quality footage for work but still be able bring it to say events or trips as well. This wouldn’t work if the camera was say $20,000 that was meant for film sets as an example. But $2000 is reasonable and if it is compact.
That is actually the case here which is why I am thinking of just pulling the trigger as it reduces the risk of simply buying something for your business where if it doesn’t work out then you wasted your money. The fallback is I have a great personal use camera. You gotta be careful about that too as people can often then try and justify purchasing it primarily for personal only. The year is coming to an end so fast too.
