Embracing The Temporary Tax Relief As a Business or Not

Today technically the tax relief program starts where certain items such as video games and dining out at restaurants will be tax exempt which should mean people will save some money. As expected, some businesses are already advertising for people to go visit them to take advantage of these changes. At the same time, some dread it as they have to change all of their point of sales equipment and accounting to adjust for this short period.

I heard examples on how it is a nightmare for convenience stores as there is just so many items to organize to the point where some places are actually going to just make everything tax exempt and eat the cost of the items that didn’t’ qualify afterwards by paying out of their own pocket. This may work if you are selling small items like candy and cough drops but not huge electronics as an example. But even if you hate the idea in this case would you make the effort to say put signs at your business to encourage shoppers to go to you?

I probably would in this context as it’s an opportunity to grow and knowing there are people waiting to shop just on this day you may as well take advantage of it. You can do a lot such as if you get a very crowded store suddenly it could be something great to document which you can use forever for marketing purposes as an example. It’s almost like one of those you may have to force yourself to go to that convention as you may meet someone important for your growth. But you will never know if you skip the opportunity.
