When it comes to completing some kind of task most people just want someone that can do the job. But the reality is, a lot of people would often prejudge people based on superficial details such as age and cultural background. I just saw an example today where initially a person was super excited to contract a lot of his services to a company that seemed to be perfect. Good reviews, the job performed for them initially was great, so why not book them for the long-term?
Then, it seemed like the person found out the business owner was actually a younger entrepreneur through various articles. For example, interviews about starting a successful business. Now many times there are a lot of people who pre-judge younger people as inexperienced. Therefore, people tend to go with an older person many times as stereotypically you would think they would have more experience. Not always the case of course.
But it’s amazing to see these types of prejudice still exist even if the person is fully qualified. A business in general is not like an employee where that would be illegal in most places to use things like one’s age to determine if they should be hired or promoted as an example. I think that’s why when it comes to a lot of businesses you may not want to list too much stuff about people personally versus simply focusing on the service details.
It is tricky as many sites have bios that are very personable of course and many times people actually do business with people they an relate with. But I guess like with that you don’t need to go into detail about one’s religion or political belief as that could likely divide your potential customer base instantly.
