Recently I saw all these advertisements for a 2000 Push Up challenge coming soon which got me interested as I usually love fitness related activities. Apparently, it was for a good cause too where it is raising attention and money for mental illness issues. So, while it may be fun as well, what I was also reading is how a lot of people were thinking of doing it just for the sale of trying to get exposure for there business even though they hate physical activities and have no real attachment to the cause.
You could argue for the mission of the challenge it doesn’t matter as technically the more attention they get the more odds they can increase their reach. Reminds me of that ice bucket challenge where so many people were doing it for the sake of trying to go viral. It makes you think, should you try to participate in as many of these types of activity as possible purely for marketing reasons?
I suppose in many ways it can be a win-win for every party involved if the person got a lot of attention.
