You knew this was going to happen eventually. With the coronavirus news still rapidly spreading everywhere you naturally have a ton of people panicking that they could be next to get infected. This has resulted in people refusing to go to Chinese restaurants that aren’t contaminated to spending hundreds of dollars on certain face masks that don’t really do much.
A funny thought about this was how when I first heard about the coronavirus one person’s remark to me was they wondered how people came up with that name. Reason being is that it specifically reminded them of the beer Corona. Because of all the fear now it seems like people actually are associating Corona beer with the virus which would make people want to stay away from it.
Makes you wonder where if this was your business and you unfortunately had a name brand that sounds very similar to something that is currently very negative would you actually change it? Or would you keep it as is hoping people will eventually realize it’s not the same thing? I believe in this case the company is simply going with the educational route. Doesn’t really make sense to change things when you are that big of a company. But for a smaller business or a start-up maybe that would be a possible wise choice. What would you do?
