Today I was reading about some comments from CEO’s of billion-dollar corporations that were giving job seekers advice on how to make it in life such as working hard and making sure you take control in getting the things that you want as no one else will do it for you. Of course, they use themselves as the proof to show if you do that you can be just like them. That was the controversy as people started to scrutinize the CEO’s background such as how a lot of them came from well off families where they got all the advantages in life such as an expensive education and networking power to help them land jobs. So, it was a fair comment that not everyone has those same privileges.
Would the person have made it regardless as usually people with the right attitude and work ethic can usually find a way through obstacles? Possibly. But you just never know such as how in a lot of businesses only hire and promote within first and many times people can do the job adequately without the need of offering someone outside the immediate circle that opportunity. Nepotism is a common factor with business hiring practices as an example.
If anything, this reminds you that it’s important to always remember that one person’s journey may not be right for you as their circumstances and time can be completely different. If anything, use it as useful information on how they did it and what may work for your unique circumstance.
