Changing Product Descriptions Each Season For Sales

This was funny I thought as I bought a support pole recently which was nothing too special. It was originally labeled as a “Adjustable Support Pole, Premium Steel Support Rod with 154 LB Capacity for Cabinet, 3rd Hand Support System, Cabinet Jacks Cargo Bars. Pretty basic tool right? Well, recently the store asked if I could leave a review of the product and in the message it quickly listed the item in question. However, upon looking at the description for the pole they seemed to have changed it.

It is the winter time now and the description now says that it is a “Gazebo Winter Support Pole”. It is literally the exact same product and can be used as such I suppose. But that was an interesting marketing and business strategy I thought to target people based on what the company thinks people will be looking for during various seasons.

It reminds me the example I always use of memory cards where technically many of them can be used universally on all devices. However, branding them for specific products such as a gaming console during the Christmas time where there are likely going to be more demand for those items can be wise to generate more sales. Especially for those without in-depth knowledge of the subject.
