Well, this was fast as recently the US decided to cease trade talks with Canada due to its Digital Services Tax on US companies. A lot of the politicians here initially stated they would remain strong against the US when it comes to trade negotiations. However, as seen here that folded up real quick as the tax has been rescinded in order to try and commence talks.
This is great for the US as it shows that they have a lot of power and leverage. For here in Canada this makes me think of a business that talked tough initially to get say funding and support only to ultimately not being able to fulfill its promise per se. It’s an interesting example too on how many times if you fight say businesses or organizations on certain fees and taxes you may be surprised at how easy they will reverse it where many times it’s just a matter of no one challenging them.
A lot of restaurants do that where they slip in these fees that people think are just some kind of standard but In reality it’s just charged because they can and no one fights back. Something to think about I guess if you are dealing with a business where you eel certain fees are inappropriate.
