Every year I usually try to find something new to do whether it’s learning a new skill or trying new experiences. Last year I was actually trying programs like that Duo Lingo to see if I could actually learn a new language. Fo the most part, I think I learned basic words but it didn’t really prepare me to hold a conversation if I was dumped into a situation where I was forced to talk to native speakers. So it wasn’t a replacement for say some more formal lessons or getting real hands-on experience.
One thing I kept reading about is how people have been using AI programs where they prompt it to speak to you in order to learn a language which actually might work. People use conversation partners all the time to increase their skills except in this case you would essentially have one on demand for virtually free. So, it made me wonder if I should try that to see how well you can learn with AI.
Funny enough too, with AI becoming so advanced and being able to translate conversations in real-time between two people it makes you wonder if learning a second language won’t be as useful. But in general you should try to learn new things when you can as even here it could simply be an exercise to familiarize yourself with modern-day tech and how it can help you in multiple ways.
