While walking through the supermarket today I noticed there were all these cereals on display which seemed to be priced to clear. At 94 cents per box I could see people just grabbing as much as they can. However, these cereals do seem like they are meant more for kids with the cartoony design and sweetened to a child’s liking. A lot of adults would probably think this is junk. But I did overhear someone say “This will be great for the kids at that price” which did make me think how people often carry that mindset where cheap things are good for kids.
Coincidentally, I was watching a funny video of a professional chef talking about how bad he felt a lot of kids cereal are and that he would never serve them to a child. He only learned that his own child had been eating them growing up as that is what the mom bought him and what he asked for. From a health perspective it sounds like it would be better to have the mentality of if you think it is bad for you then surely you shouldn’t give it a kid too right?
But again, many people do have that approach where if it’s cheap it’s good enough for the kids. Kind of contradicts the saying of giving kids the best to help them grow right? Might be a good thing to change in terms of purchasing habits in that regards.
