Boxing Day 2024 Crowds

I didn’t really have anything to buy today but was curious with all the news of financial woes that people have been having recently were shoppers inclined to spend a lot of money today? Going through the malls felt like a normal sales day for many stores where the discounts didn’t seem that great to me as the best deals appeared to be Christmas clearance items. Black Friday actually had better deals in a lot of cases. Actually, funny enough even the local supermarket flyer appeared to ignore boxing day all together on its main flyer and just focused on regular grocery items with post-Christmas clearance offers.

Black Friday isn’t even technically a Canadian thing either but I guess everyone just jumped onto it since online shopping is more common nowadays. I ended not buying anything at the stores because if there was anything remotely interesting the lineups didn’t seem worth it for some of the small clearance items where I will just return the next day to see if it is still there and avoid the wait.

Overall, there was no need to go to the stores too for many items which may have been a factor too as companies could have still generated a lot of sales digitally. All in all, money saved for me.
