While shopping for some Christmas gifts I noticed for various video games there were posters highlighting how certain ones were nominated for best video game of the year award. While it didn’t win, I suppose it still adds that credibility and emphasis that it must be a very good game to even be considered for such an award. That made me wonder, would you do that for a resume in which you didn’t say win the ultimate prize but was one of the final contenders?
I would personally still find that impressive. But I don’t know anyone who would include it if they didn’t actually win. Almost makes me wonder why? The only thing I can really think of is it may come across as there is someone better than you out there which may give the impression that you aren’t the best person for the job. This is versus products like a game where people usually purchase multiple items anyways.
At the same time, if you list too many times where you were a finalist but never actually won that may nit look good. But I would think it would be like everything else where you would only pick and choose events that are universally recognizable to highlight your yourself. So would you actually highlight those accomplishments on your resume?
