Becoming Enemies With People Just For Business

I actually couldn’t believe this was a topic when it comes to the trade war between Canada and the US. Apparently because of the tension between the two countries and the push to buy locally made products people are going as far as saying businesses should even terminate personal relationships with people across the border to show their business is say 100% for Canadians as showing any kind of connection will be bad for an All-Canadian type of business marketing.

To me, that is ludicrous if we are talking about friends and family members breaking apart over this trade dispute. If you think about it, even powerful world figures often still maintain some kind of communication with other countries despite a business dispute per se. The wise thing would be to simply adjust your strategies when it comes to business relations. Would be like saying, if you don’t agree with a distributor for a product then you could decide to buy the items elsewhere. But saying you need to disassociate with people who simply works in the company as an example is too much and doesn’t really do anything but tear relationships apart in my view.

Oddly enough, people often say you need to separate personal and business issues where that is the case here. It’s just in a different way.
